Free Lunch Presentation:
Human Suffering vs. Pain: A Helpful Distinction for Clinicians & Others
12:30PM to 1:30PM, Wednesday, 1/25/17
Rm. 106 CMWT, UIC College of Medicine West, 1853 W. Polk St.
Fr. Chris Saliga, OP, RN
Come meet and hear the new Associate Chaplain of the St. John Paul II Catholic Newman Center at UIC. Besides his religious duties, Fr. Saliga has served as an Army medic and paratrooper, a Navy nurse, as a clinical nursing instructor, and as a bioethicist.
“Suffering” as used in contemporary parlance calls for a “second look.” Thanks to classical Greek, an ancient philosopher, a recent pope, a nursing theorist, and a unique surfer, we can see excellent possibilities in clinical practice.
